Well, it took about 6 months from when I initially inquired about this bike to actually receiving it. The process was somewhat delayed by the pandemic but continued to move forward regardless. I have to say that in the end it was worth the wait!

During the process I had several phone conversations with Alex Battaglin, the son of Giovanni. Alex runs this business but he still relies on his fathers expertise for the design of the bicycle. Alex insists on speaking with each of his clients on the phone personally. You can tell that each order is important to him not just as another sale, but as a continuation of a family legacy.

#3 of 10

Examining the frame on the work-stand is is clear that the quality of manufacture is quite good! My particular Marosticana frame is #3 of a limited production run of 10 frames. The attention to detail is impressive as is the quality of the work! It gives you the accurate impression that this is not some mass produced, perfectly replicated one out of thousands. It is rather a unique hand made piece, not without imperfections and with a great deal of character. More than anything it reminds me of a fine work of art expressed as a bicycle frame!

Proudly Italian

Battaglin is quite proud of the work they do and their name and logo appears in many locations on the frame. There will be no mistaking this as the product of any other builder, ever! The tradition of Italian made classic steel bike frames has been extended for a least one more generation by Alex and his team!

My plans for this frame have yet to be finalized, how I build it, when and with what gruppo etc. One thing that I can say for sure is that It will be all Italian! Campagnolo, Cinelli and Deda all currently make wonderful classic components which would look great on this frame. Of course you couldn’t go wrong even going with classic Campy Record 10 stuff either!
